Hiking
Hiking is something new I tried with a friend and something I fell in love with. It is definitely some great exercise as well! Not only does it feel amazing accomplishing such a feat, but you also get to see some truly beautiful parts of nature. Here are some pictures from different hiking expeditions. I say expeditions, cause they inevitably lead to a little bit of rock climbing as well! :)

Whirlie Wear Fall 2015 Photo Shoot
Before the 2015-2016 school year started, I had the opportunity to do a photo shoot for the new school spirit, or Whirlie Wear. The lady in charge of our school's apparel, Lynne Goodwin, reached out to me, as I am the Editor-in-Chief of our school's yearbook. The photos I took were to be used on the website whirliewear.com to showcase the new apparel. It was a great opportunity and a lot of fun thinking of creative ideas to show off the awesome new apparel, and to, of course show off some Whirlie Pride!

BMX: 2015 State Finals
The 2015 BMX North Carolina State Finals, was held in Raleigh, N.C. on August 30, 2015. I participated in the 17-20 women's class and the 17-20 women's cruiser class. Within both classes, I won all of my races. This, along with my wins at the state qualifier races throughout the year made me the State Champion for both classes. I was very excited about these wins, as I had worked hard to earn them.
Here are some pictures from the day!

My friend and I posing with our number one plates. We both received State Champion in both our class and cruiser divisions.
Teammates, all of which also earned State Champions in their respectable divisions!

Final CAS Project: Indo-American Society Event
For my Final CAS Project, I participated in and helped put together a Valentine's Day Celebration for the Indo-American Society of North Carolina with some friends. The event was held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 6 pm to 11 pm. We of course got there early to help set up tables, and decorate the location with Valentine's Day themed décor. As for the event itself, it consisted of a kid's fashion show, which we helped the kids practice for, and line up for as well. There was also 30 minutes of performances, by different groups, of which my friends and I were the finale to. Then these performances were followed by a catered dinner and then DJ dancing. In the group performances, my friends and I danced to two different songs, of which consisted of about 3 minutes in total. We choreographed the songs to Bollywood dance moves. We then practiced about 3 times a week for about a month in total. In the end, all the hard work we put in was totally worth it. Our dance was definitely the crowd's favorite and the night was definitely a success. We also had the opportunity to sell baked goods to earn money for a local elementary school, Foust Elementary. We raised about $100 dollars which we used to buy books for the students.
The event was a great opportunity in many ways. I got to be creative in planning the décor for the event, and of course decorating the venue. I got to participate in the event itself, by dancing to our choreographed Bollywood music, and by learning other Bollywood moves during the DJ dancing. I also got to serve and help raise money for a very deserving elementary school, as well as serving with the Indo-American society and helping with the event. I am thankful for the experiences I have had because of the Indo-American Society of North Carolina, and it has been a privilege to not only help with and go to their events, but also learn more about their fascinating culture. They have made me feel more then welcome at every event, and it is most definitely and organization that I wish to continue working with.
Here are some pictures from the night!
